Greatest Sentence Ever Penned?

Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος, καὶ ὁ λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν θεόν, καὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος. (Joh 1:1 BGT)

One of the top 3!

  • The word order tells us that Jesus has all the divine attributes of  the Father, the lack of the article tells us that Jesus is not the Father.
  • What God was, the Word was
  • The person of the Word (Jesus) is not the same as the person of the Father
  • Jesus Christ is God and has all the attributes the Father does, but He is not the Father.
  • Luther "The lack of the article is against Sebelliansim, the word order is against Arianism."
  • All that in the last 5 words of John 1:1
