"Divine Common Sense"

Craig Cabaniss encouraged us with this "divine common sense" this am:
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:25-34 ESV)

This is my Life...

Greek midterm #2 this week.  This is all that I feel like I have been doing...

I am a blessed man...

Our Birthday

Gracie and I share a birthday, March 12.   We had a wonderful family day.

Our family tradition is birthday waffles in the morning:

Hope and Zoe got in on the action also

Then we threw a surprise kids party for Gracie

She was surprised...

To end the day, a fancy dinner.

It was a great day.  I love sharing my birthday with "G"!

Appalachian Trail (AT)

I have always wanted to hike on the AT since I was a Cub Scout in second grade.  Last week I had the first opportunity in my life.  I was so excited that I was able to share it with Becky and the girls.
We went to Harper's Ferry, WV where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet.  We started in town and hiked the trail to historic Harper's Ferry and across and then along the Potomac river.  Here is some pics:

Starting our hike

Looking forward to going for an overnight backpack on the AT with Hope and Gracie this spring!

Update

Life got a little busy so I missed a couple weeks.  Here are some recent highlights

  • I had the opportunity to lead worship on a Wed morning for our class and Bob K. Our church family will be pleased to know that will not be repeated anytime soon.
  • I had the privilege to preach from Phil. 3 for my preaching practicum to my class and Jeff P.  It was a great learning experience
  • I was able to come home to MN and attend "How People Change" with Corby
  • I had the privilege to take what I learned  in the preaching practicum and apply it when preaching at my favorite church in the whole world--my local church, Oasis.
Becky, the girls and I are having a wonderful time here in MD but we are really looking forward to coming home!

Here is a couple things we are looking forward to in the near future:

  • A visit from Q and Maria M and their family!  We are so excited to have some Minnesotans out here.
  • A weekend trip to Philly to hear one of my classmates preach and to see Valley Forge, the Continental Congress, the Liberty Bell etc
  • Gracie and my birthday
  • Spring!
Grace to you all.
